Planning Your Spring Break Adventure On Oahu
It’s not too early to start planning your spring break adventure! In fact, now is the time to finalize your plans and reservations if you haven’t done so already. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a long-time resident, Lucky Owl Car Rental can get you wherever you need to go around Oahu. Here are five things you can do over your Hawaiian spring break.
1. Diamond Head
Diamond Head in Waikiki, a U.S. National Natural Monument, is Hawaii’s most recognized landmark. This 475-acre crater that was formed thousands of years ago from an explosive eruption served as a military lookout in the early 1900s. You can also visit the Diamond Head Lighthouse, which was built in 1917.
2. Pearl Harbor National Memorial
The attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 marked the entry of the United States into World War II. The USS Arizona Memorial is the final resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines that were killed during the attack. More than two million people visit this memorial each year.
3. ‘Iolani Palace
This was the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii from 1845 until the monarchy was overthrown in 1893. After being used as a government building it was restored and opened as a museum. ‘Iolani Palace is the only official royal residence on US soil.
4. Makapu’u Point Lighthouse
This scenic trail is a popular Oahu hiking destination, second only to the Diamond Head trails. Your hike to the top is rewarded with breathtaking views of the coast and nearby islands. The Makapu’u Lighthouse is a favorite landmark to visit.
5. Kualoa Ranch
The 4,000-acre nature preserve spreads across three separate valleys and was historically a Hawaiian sacred area that was established in 1850. More recently, it has served as the filming location of over 200 movies and television shows. There are many different guided tours, including filming locations for Jurassic Park. Kualoa Ranch is commonly known as Jurassic Valley.
