Things To Do in Oahu: Christmas 2021

Take a Holiday Lights Trolley Tour

Join this 45-minute Waikiki trolley tour as you explore all the sights, sounds, and lights of downtown Honolulu. The trolley itself is even decorated with wreaths and brightly colored Christmas-themed lights. Adults are $15, children 3-17 are $10, and children under three are free.

Get a Christmas Souvenir

Instead of a tee-shirt or shot glass, consider buying something from the Waikiki Christmas Store. You’re sure to find a Hawaiian-themed Christmas ornament that captures your vacation memory forever. Even better, get your ornaments personalized and give them as gifts to those back at home. It’s free!

Make a Sandman

If you travel to Oahu from a place that gets snow, you may miss the opportunity to make a snowman. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t make a sandman. At the Waikiki Sheraton, they make a massive Christmas-themed sand sculpture every year. Look in the lobby to see what this year brings, and then go out to the beach and practice making your own.

Decorate a Tree

The Hawaiian convention center hosts this year’s Winter Wishes Holiday Festival. Everyone in the family will enjoy this experience whether you ice skate, listen to live music, make a Christmas craft, or visit Santa. To top it all off, you can even add an ornament to the Winter Wishes Christmas tree.

Celebrate Polynesian Style

What happens when you mix Christmas with Polynesian adventure? It’s the Polynesian Cultural Center’s Christmas celebration. Take a ride down the lagoon in a canoe, witness a live nativity scene, and let the kids participate in a scavenger hunt.

Go the Traditional Route

Some people connect to tradition. For many people, the Christmas tradition involves the Nutcracker. If this applies to you, you’re in luck. The Nutcracker plays for three days in late December.

Watch A Boat Parade of Lights

The Hawaii Kai Towne Center hosts a local Christmas tradition that travelers love. Witness the locals decorate their boats full of Christmas spirit! You’ll watch boats bedazzled with Christmas decorations and lights galore before they hit the water parade-style. Enjoy a bit of competition as participants compete for the grand prize. This event is free so feel free to go and have fun with the whole family.

Reserve Your Rental Car

Oahu offers many possibilities when it comes to things to do during Christmas 2021. Keep in mind there are many events planned that aren’t even covered here. But first, you need to reserve your rental car, minivan, passenger van, or SUV! To do so, call (808) 352-4890, email us, or request an online quote. Whatever you decide to do, Lucky Owl Car Rental hopes you have a unique Christmas experience. Happy Holidays!
